Smoking funky bananas

Friends and Sails
One of the great things about SL is the opportunity to meet new people and make friends with them. One such gem for me is MichelleD Ecksol who is a new music artist to make her mark in SL. I first met MichelleD via Jane2 McMahon who sent her to me because MichelleD needed help setting up her shoutcast stream. I can’t say I solved her problem that instant but we hit it off pretty good. I must say Michelle a bright and funny person. I can see why Crap Mariner dragged her and her hubby Scott into SL. Actually Scott isn’t quite in SL yet as he hasn’t been bitten by the bug yet so for now she puts out a cardboard cutout of him.
One thing you got to know about MichelleD. She’s got a healthy appettite:

Needing a breath of fresh air I took a little trip to Trudeau Cay (KONA Radio plays there 
)
I took my Zinnemann40 out for a sail around the waters south of Hollywood (Hollywood is too laggy nowadays) but I kept crashing. 
Sim crossing were pretty bad and not only did it make me crash but it made for some funny effects like this:
The split second I took the pic the boat and my hair vanished. You can see the particle smoke that emanates from the top of the mast. It sort of looks like a comet by the moon!
I did come across Jacqueline Trudeau testing a new sailboat of hers. I’d love to show you but it too de-rezzed right before I took the pic. It was hilarious as we both shared a Wiley Coyote moment suspended over the water:

Stones, skins, and fur
Hi there! I have some nice images for my readers today !!!
As many of you know change is inevitable and when are absent for a while and then come back you’ll notice many changes big and small. SLNE was a place I originally called home last year and I was part of the exodus during the upheavals last spring. Sniff, yeah, sad stuff it was . Anyhoo in a recent visit I decided to check the peripheral regions and found this:

Having personal help when you arrive in SL is something few of us experienced. We all got by on the kindness of strangers and by learning stuff the hard way. But every now and again you meet a day old noob who looks like this:
Leanna was brought to SL by her RL friends who did a great job in fixing her up with a nice skin, eyes, and clothes.
Animal AVs by and large are kinda goofy looking. Not that human AVs are perfect either, but the textures and prim attachments tend to be mediocre leading to a rather “hokey” appearance. But last night I saw this cute little monkey!!! :
Maybe it’s because it is similar in form to a human AV that the effect is more convincing.

This past week was a little up and a little down. I faced insult, RL illness, optical deviance and an attack by cloth eating moths but came out on top. The bad, let’s just say I got over it and that karma is a bitch and I want my karma to be positive . The case of the flu I have will take a bit of rest and medicine to subdue but I’ll prevail eventually.
In SL I was stricken by the crossed eye syndrome and was quick enough to snap a picture:

My second gig at Clockwork was a lot more successful. Thanks go to all my good friends who showed up to give me support!

This past weeks saw a few interesting images fly past my screen that I managed to snag:
1) Restarting sims.Grrrr, pain in the butt but the gaping hole they leave reveals the underpinnings of the SL world.

In the middle of Paisley Beebe’s show at Sailors Cove first one side then the other restarts but the show carried on.

Having just read Crap’s post it reminded me of something I saw Monday night. At the Podmafia in world broadcast I spotted an avatar with a vaguely familiar name. I quickly summoned Grace McDonnough to get her thoughts on the subject. The guy didn’t really say much and he rejected a box of male freebies (no, no wankers were in it thank you 
) . I haven’t seen him since.

It’s a common theme repeated by many bloggers in the SL sphere that dark skinned avatars are rare. It has been pretty true in my own observations to date, but they are becoming more common place. I’d like to think I had some small part in that . Last March I made the switch from a white Bare Rose skin to an Envy You quickly followed by a NORA Skin. My face became public by participating in a syndicated blog and starting a pool in Flickr dedicated to dark skins. Well, if you’re white in RL why bother? Hmmm, I’m not on some crusade or anything, but I enjoy being different and unique. Not unique in the oddball, rebel kind of way but just doing my own thing and enjoying it.
One of my accomplishments I am proud of is the Flickr Pool I specifically created called SL - Ebony . Recently we passed the 1,000 pictures milestone and yesterday we passed the 100 member mark and are sitting at 104 members. No doubt by the time you read this it will grow higher!
I’d like to thank Steve Venkman for his support , Khitten Kurka for being there in the beginning and helping me get it off the ground, and Charity Richez for scouring the feeds looking for good candidates to add to the pool.
