I am what I am and that’s all that I am (Popeye)
In SL we all have reputations. Some good some bad. Good and bad are relative terms in that certain traits will get you far in some areas and stop you in others. Lately I’ve been called out for being pushy, egotistical, and being the center of attention. Certainly being called that makes one pause for a moment and question their own behaviors. I began to think things out and try to identify why they would say that.
What I came away with was that I was being told to shut up and tone down. Being told to shut up doesn’t sit too well with me. Toning down, well what am I to do? Dress like a nun? Sit in the corner? Abandon some of my interest? I don’t think so. Not going to happen. Period.
I am not mean, I do not stab friends in the back, I do not betray my friends and abandon them. I do have my own interest and I vigorously pursue and promote them. From Flickr pools, Music, Web 2.0 sites, and SL groups I have my hand in a lot of things. I am friends with many,many people with similar interest. Many are well known and many are obscure but incredibly fascinating. I’d never be where I am now by being a conforming wallflower. If my personality offends or rubs you the wrong way I am sorry. For everyone I may irk there are others who like me just the way I am. And I like who I am which is the most important thing.
Pffft, some people complain that I have so many pics of myself on Flickr. Get over it.

Don’t know who’s telling you to do what darlin – but I’d sit down and question their motives if I were you.
There’s two hidden hierarchies in SL, which are hard to spot for beginners. The first hidden hierarchy is about appearance. It is not important WHAT style you follow, as long as it IS style, and more important, individuality. In a world where everybody is beautiful and where there is gorgeous clothing pret-a-porter, individuality becomes even more important.
The second hidden hierarchy is – as you say – based on reputation. Your track record becomes very important, and – just as in RL – the way you present or “sell” yourself. Your blog is a prime example for this.
I, for one, love looking at pictures of your avatar. You’re very photogenic! And if someone doesn’t want to see your pictures, they can block you or something!
People like to try and make drama where there is none. I’m not doing to deny that you can be flashy and ‘demand’ attention. By ‘demand’, I don’t mean you’re asking for it… you have a magnetic personality and there’s good reason to pay attention to you!
I would tell you to not let it get to you, but I know you know better than that. :]

What is a blog for but to share of oneself. Flickr to show pictures of what you are interested in, and as most peope do, your pics show that you are there. There is nothing odd in this.

OMG what complete and utter stupidity … it’s just pure jealousy hon, don’t even bother about those comments telling you to be other then who you are. They just don’t have a life to share, neither RL or SL … in the end you can’t blame them, I’d be frustrated too being them ;p

Count me as one of the ones that likes you just the way you are. And too many pictures of yourself? Please. Self is the absolute best subject for SL photos, if you ask me.
