Well I did it! After crashing at so many sim crossings I discovered that if I flew at high altitudes and minimized draw to less than flying altitude I could easily cross the mainland for long flights. Soon after takeoff I climb to altitude and maintian a course that intersects sim lines at right angles, then angling to make course corrections in 90 degree increments. Once I am a few sims away from my arrival I drop to 100 meters, get a visual on the runway. I lower speed and landing gear and make a hopefully smooth landing.
